Mobile Games We Actually Play

We dig into puzzles, RPGs, strategy, and arcade games, then write about what it's really like to play them. Recently we spent a week with Legends of Slots and put together a full breakdown of how it feels on the screen.

Why us

We finish games

No review goes up until someone on the team has played far enough to know how it holds up over time.

Every genre counts

Puzzles, strategy, racing, RPGs — we don't pretend one type matters more than another.

If something is boring, we say so. Our notes are the same ones we'd send a friend.

Emberfall Saga

★★★★★ 4.6

Emberfall Saga is the kind of RPG that eats your evenings. You build a party of four, work through a branching story, and fight turn-based battles where positioning actually matters. The writing is better than it has any right to be on a phone, with side characters who stick around long enough to grow on you. Combat starts gentle and then gets genuinely tricky around the mid-game, when enemies start punishing lazy turns. We appreciated that the difficulty curve respected us instead of forcing endless grinding. Touch controls for selecting targets and skills are clean and never got in the way during fast fights. It does ask for a lot of your time, and the first hour is slow. Push through it and you get one of the more satisfying mobile RPGs we've played this year.

  • Turn-based combat with real tactical depth
  • A story worth following to the end
  • Clear, responsive touch controls in battle

Questions & answers

How do you choose which games to review?

We pick a mix of new releases, reader suggestions, and things we stumble onto ourselves. The goal is to cover every genre, so we deliberately rotate between puzzles, RPGs, strategy, and arcade titles instead of chasing whatever's trending.

Do developers pay you for reviews?

No. We don't accept payment for a review or for a particular score. If a studio ever sends us a code to try something early, we say so in the article and it changes nothing about our opinion.

Can I suggest a game you should cover?

Yes, please do. Email us the name and a line about why you like it, and it goes onto our shortlist. We can't promise to cover everything, but reader picks like our Legends of Slots breakdown often turn into full reviews.

Is there advertising on the site?

We keep it minimal and clearly separated from the actual reviews. Ads never influence a score, and no advertiser gets to see or approve our writing before it goes live.
